It is Wednesday and you are getting settled in for an afternoon collaborating with the team at PR. Your goal for today is to gain a better understanding a new client. Co-designing innovative analytics solutions is something you are passionate about, and you look forward to working with your team to learn more about the client's user needs. The team will then brainstorm to define a path forward to meet them. You may be part-time in the role, allowing other time in your week for study, caring, or other projects.
You meet with a client who would like help driving strategic business outcomes and enabling data-driven insights. You qualitatively interview the client with another team member, leaning on your tech and business requirements gathering techniques, as well as ethnographic interview skills learnt at People Rocket. To identify dashboard, metric and report requirements, you and the team host an impromtu workshop with the client. You often translate between different client groups to align on what is needed in the future.
Once the workshops wraps, you have a quick call to debrief with the People Rocket team. You align on what requirements you heard and next steps. A few design ideas came to mind during the meeting, and you share the rough sketches, as well as map thoughts on the data flow for initial feedback. Sharing unfinished work is a key value in People Rocket and one you are getting more used to. You spend the remainder of the afternoon prototyping a dashboard and business intelligence reports. Tomorrow you will send these back to the client to showcase what a solution might look like. Before you finish up for the day, you jot down some prototyping concepts that been percolating, you are eager to see how users would interact with the ideas and can't wait to test them.
